Folks,
I'm a newbie and would like to get your advice in helping me select a new shotgun. To make it short, I have decided to either get a Remington model 1100 or 1187 12 gauge. I want a general purpose gun, something that is good for all around. I rather get a 26" barrel than a 28 or something shorter. I pretty much will be using 2 3/4" shells exclusively. I don't really need any fancy furniture, just a plain black synthetic stock would be fine.
I am not really sure what the difference is between the 1100 and 1187. I think that the 1187 can use the larger shells? I heard some people say that if you are not planning on using the larger shells to get the 1100 since its smaller chamber will be more reliably with the 2 3/4" shells.
Looking at Bud's I see so many models, but it appears that two are close.
Remington 1100 Sport 12 28" Rem-Choke GS
Remington 1187 Sportsman 12 26" Rem-Choke Mod Black
What are the differences between the above and which would you recommend to me?
Thanks in advance.
