Opinions please,Im looking at three different shotguns.Rem 1100 12 Skeet model,Franchi AL48 Hunter model,Rem 11-87 Special purpose Mag.All preowned ,all 12ga and in good condition. They are asking approx $440.00 for the Rem 1100,$450.00 Rem 1187,and $370.00 for the Franchi.Im going to use them for shooting clays. Not much experience in this area as I shoot 3-Gun type matches and I dont hunt anymore.Thanks.

Probably the best option is the 1100 skeet, strictly 2 3/4" shells and less need of a gas system that will "operate them all". Never had any luck with the only Franchi I have ever shot, it would only shoot heavy target shells, not standard 1200fps target shells. The 11-87 special purpose mag is kinda iffy, that is the one that takes 3.5" mags if I recall correctly, might have issues with regular light target shells. Then as Armored farmer points out, which one fits best?

If it fits the 1100 by a mile. The Franchi is too light, is an A5 clone(long recoil) and may not shoot light loads well. Like Kudu stated the 1187 also may not cycle target loads well either if it is 3.5" chambered.

If you know how to set the friction rings the Franchi is a very light kicker. But you may get one that doesn't like target loads and there isn't a lot that can be done about that.

For whatever reason the Remington 1100 fits a wider variety of shooters IMO than just about any other. I don't shoot clays but if I did the 1100 would be the first shotgun I checked out.

For what you want to do the 1100. The 11-87 might be more versatile for hunting waterfowl. Franchi is too light and recoils too much for clay games. If you're carrying it all day hunting upland game and only firing a few rounds each day it would be an option.

If the 1100 has choke tubes it's just what you need. If not get the 11-87. You need more than just skeet choke for sporting.
The Franchi is a good gun but too light for just targets and it's a recoil operated shotgun.

In two hours, you can buy the Remington V3 at Buds for 540 which will be 440 after the rebate that starts at midnight. May be a solid competitor to the options you've listed.
