Buddy of mine has her boyfriends Pro Carry and doesnt want to shoot it because she cant field strip it.

I was hangen out with her last night I've never field stripped one of these before. I was able to get the slide off the reciever but I cant figure out how to get the guide rod or barrel off the slide..... BTW the guide rod has 2 really small holes in it. I am thinking this has something to do with the take down. The pistol does not have a barrel bushing......

Some help please :)!!

Lock the slide back and insert a pin in the exposed hole on the guide rod. You can use a paperclip or a small allen wrench like I do.

Release the slide stop and move the slide forward until you can remove the slide stop from the frame.

Remove slide.

Now the tricky part. You have to compress the spring all the way back and use the allen wrench or whatever you find to keep the spring compressed. I made a small tool out of scrap metal that was just wide enough to go over the guide rod to compress the spring. Once you have the spring compressed you can slide down the bushing, rotate the guiderod and remove it. Then slide the barrel thru the slide and start cleaning.

I really dont know if they sell a special tool to help compress the spring or not.

I make takedown tools out of heavy duty paper clips (the regular ones won't work). That way, you can go to Staples and buy a box of 1000 takedown tools. :D

BTW, you don't have to fight the spring to compress it......just lock back the slide and put the tool in the hole. When you get done, lock back the slide again to remove the tool.

With the takedown tool in place, you should be able to remove the whole guide rod/spring/reverse plug group as 1 piece once the slide is off the gun. Then pop out the barrel and the field strip is a done deal. Piece of cake.
