i bought a tokarev 7.62x25mm pistol today and i am having some trouble with it.this gun is in great condition, in fact it looks like it is brand new. i got home and began to strip her down for some cleaning (it is covered in grease/cosmoline).

Problem: i cant get the barrel bushing to rotate at all. thus i cant take the barrel out to continue the field strip.

i have tried taking the slide off first and removing the spring and then trying to rotate it, wouldnt budge. next i reassembled it and tried pushing the rod dowm from the muzzle end and then tried to rotate it. nothing!

the only way i got it to budge at all was by removing the spring/guide rod and putting a steel rod through the guide rod hole and hammering it. but this only barely budged it. i mean iv really put some force to this thing and it is not moving.

im really confused, please help.... i really want to get this thing cleaned up so i can take it to the range.

yeah i was using the surplusrifle.com instructions and was turning clockwise. im gonna try an overnight lube soak and a padded vice grip in the morning.

any other ideas?????????????

I would stay with the drift pin and keep tapping it with a hammer to get it to move. Pad the slide and stick it in a vise to make that easier.

Use a punch pin with as close a diameter to the hole in the bushing as you have.

You could also take a shot at moving it using a brass drift on the edge of the bushing. That would be easy once the gun itself is in a vise.

Yes.

Heat it up with a heat-gun, or carefully with a propane torch first and see if it is just stuck with dried grease before resorting to brute force.
