I have had this rifle for a while, It's a 1936 Tula Hex reciever Mosin Nagant 91/30 with brass handguard caps and brass sling hole plates and a hooded sight post. What's strange about it is that it has no import markings and part of the stock removed on the left side of the reciever and two squarish studs braised on where the stock has been cut but it has a straight bold, all the serial numbers including the bolt and magazine floor plate match. As far as i know MN snipers had bent bolts. I have included some slose up pictures of what i'm talking about. If anyone knows anything about this please post a reply. Thank you

PS: It's a great and accurate tack driver, no problems with difficultu ejecting cases/opening bolt like some MN's

Checked All the sites before posting this thread

I checked 7.62x54r.net and mosinnagant.net and several other sources before posting this thread. IN fact i have been ersearching it on and off for the past 3 years, i know it's a 1936 Tula 91/30 but what's throing me off are the studs for the scope base, the straight bolt and a lack of import markings. So if ayone knows more than i do, please post a reply

It's probably a re-arsenal 91/30 sniper. For whatever reasons the it lost it's accuracy or they didn't have/need another sniper and the scope was removed and a straight bolt was put on it. Look under the muzzle for the import marks. I have a 1907 91 (not a 91/30) that has very light import marks on the underside of the muzzle end of the barrel.

That's what I Figired

I figured that i's a re arsenaled sniper but don't they grind off the scope base studs and rapair the stock when i do that? I have disassembles the rifle and checked everywhere for import marks, on the barrel, on the reciever , and eveverywhere where an import mark might be. My first thought about the scope base studs what that it had been "Bubba" rized (I live in rural Northwest Alabama) but it looked too good a job, FYI i bought this rifle for $30, i couldn't see any rifling but after a week of cleaning it had good rling and a bright bore, it shoots pretty good groups with open sights and doesn't kick quite as bad as the 91/51 which i traded for a CETME.

91/59, you mean?
You got a Bubba gun - all ex-snipers had the mounts ground off, and holes filled. Also, it would be highly unlikely the original bolt managed to get put back with it, after several years of being a sniper....enjoy it, and have fun, great rifle for a great price!

Yeah I meant 91/59, i wonder if a PE or PU scope base would fit on the mounts, i have been wanting to get a mount and a pe or pu scope for it.
