I cant seem to identify an 1860 army's maker. it has all the italian proof stamps but the only id i can pickup on is a small "sm" just before the caliber designation and made in Italy on the barrel. can any one help?

where is it located the sm and made in italy if its under or on the right side its ASM. Armi San Marco. i have a bp 1851 on the left side its stamped stone mountain arms. Different type set. on the bottom its stamped sm .44 cal made in italy. The gun was imported to u.s by a company called stone mountain arms they basicly filed down the A then reblued the gun and put their address on the left. These guns were then sold to CVA conneticut valley arms. These were the CVA guns. You cant find any information on Stone mountain arms only their address which is the same address as CVA. Upon very close inspection of my revolver we found the barrel was not true straight on the octagonal lines. about 4 inches into the gun they were slightly rounded. Upon stripping the guns blueing it was found there were file marks where the A would have been to make the gun ASM. further review of an ASM gun verified the proof house markings as well as the year. Hope this helps.

Hi Scrat, The markings are on the right side of the barrel so I would guess it is a ARMI SAN MARCO.

Jack look under the barrel lower the loading lever.
