This is a breech loaded percussion rifle. The barrel is rifled and in like new condition and it has a ladder rear sight numbered 4 through 10. The only proof marks I can find are a crown with 4 division marks on the perimeter and a cross extending from the top center, there are three of these in a horizontal line on the left top of the receiver hex. The number 4155 is stamped on the top of the barrel just in front of where it attaches to the receiver. The barrel bore is about .570~. It was from a collector in the Netherlands who had it before the war, hid it from the Nazi's when they invaded and gave it to his grandson in Canada who sold it to me. I think it is an amazing speciman but I have drawn a blank on researching either the style, origin, or proof mark. Any ideas? When we are finished with this I also have a dueling pistol from the same collection.......

Are there any other markings? Good pictures of any markings would help. Is there an extractor? It looks like it was made either for an outside primed cartridge or for a self-consuming cartridge. The presence/absence of an extractor should tell.
