Hi all, Im new here but was told you may be able to help me.

I recently bought 2 really old guns from a friend and was hoping to get some help IDing them and getting a value.

Here is what I know.

First one:
Ranger" 101 12 (or Steven's Model 39) 410 gage. It needs a little work, but appears to be in fine shooting condition. Missing the butt plate.

Second:
Springfield Arms .22, single shot bolt action. very old (possibly 1930's) No model number stamped anywhere. Only a very small circle with a 25 in it. Not sure what that is though. The stock has a "lame" carving in it that was done by my friends unlce when his uncle was about 12... when he got the rifle. But in perfect working order.

To fire, you need to pull back on the rear part of the bold to "cock" it.

Any help would be great!

The Stevens Model 39 was a moderate priced bolt action shotgun. If it is in working condition, it is decent for hunting small game, but has no collector value. Try www.gunpartscorp.com ; their catalog lists the buttplate at $6.40 and buttplate screws at $2.55 each. Value is in the $150-200 range, retail.

The little .22 is a fine rifle for a beginner as it is very safe. It might make a good Christmas gift for a responsible youngster who would use it only under supervision. Value is also low, in the $100 range, retail.

P.S. If you consider guns from the 1930's "very old", I sort of wonder what you would call a 16th century matchlock.

Jim

Thanks for the info!

I guess I call them really old only because They are more then twice my age ;)

Thanks for the info. I plan on keeping the .22 at the very least and possibly the 410 as well... It is nice to have a ballpark figure though :)
