Help Me Blow $800

My top picks would be:

1st pic: XDM 4.5" stainless 9mm if you're wanting another polymer striker fired gun. These are reliable, durable, beautiful, and come with lots of nice accessories in a slick carrying case. They're also backed by Springfield's lifetime warranty and hold value well.

2nd pick: CZ75B. These steel framed hammer fired guns run about $550 or so OTD. They're respected among target shooters and have a good reputation for above average accuracy. There are lots of available upgrades for these but right out of the box they're great guns.

In a Colt M1911, I would look for the Combat Elite or the Special Combat Government, though both are over your initial price point of $800. SIGs, like the P220 Carry Elite, Carry Equinox, or Super Match, are also great choices for a well designed and nicely equipped .45 but like the Colts carry a considerably higher price tag as well.

Sig 220 Stainless Elite, though I'd wait for them to have one in the 227 double stack model.

In a revolver, S&W PC 686 Competitor. This is a must have gun for me.

That SIG P220 Stainless Elite is beautiful. Either that or a 1911, IMO. Maybe a Springfield Loaded with stainless frame/slide. Choose the action you prefer.

I would vote for a Sig P226 or P229. Elite or or Stainless Elite models. Equinox if you want real pretty...

Buds got a few in and although they are about a hundred more than you wanted to spend, ARE THEY PURDY.

Hello friends and neighbors // I'd hold off... even Buds guns only has three types of Springfield Armory semi-auots available.

They are totally out of stock on CZs period or I'd recommend the Ambi, CZ 75-B, in .40sw plus extra mags and ammo. They are almost too sweet.

Enjoy the search.

If you are a Glock guy and want to get outside your element, here are a few recommendations:

1911 - take your pick in your price range, maybe an STI
Smith & Wesson Model 41, Browning Medalist, or High Standard - .22 lr target pistol (if Medalist is too expensive, a Challenger is another option)
Browning Hi-Power - the original Wonder 9

Revolvers
Smith & Weson Model 17, 18 or 617 - There's nothing like a K frame .22
Smith & Wesson 686 - L frame .357 Magnum. The final evolution of a uniformed cop gun before the move to autos.
Smith & Wesson 29 or 629 - .44 Magnum, Dirty Harry's pick
Smith & Wesson 625 - .45ACP in moon clips
How about a Single Action Army - A 3rd Gen Colt might be in your price range or one of the knock-offs
Colt made some great double action revolvers, but any issues usually mean a trip back to Colt. There are very few qualified Colt Smiths around.

Sig 220 Carry Equinox

My brother has one and it is OUT-FRICKEN-STANDING. :D
I have a 226 ST and a 239 but that pistol is truly amazing.
It might be a little more than $800 but, in my opinion, worth the extra.

And they look really cool!

you want to blow 8-12? Ok, send me $600. That'll save you half of your top limit; your wife will thank me and love you.

I'll even sweeten the pot and throw in a fully functioning KT P11.

I will of course take the $600 and buy a XDS so all is not lost.

Suppose it depends on what you already have and the type of guns you lean toward. If it's something you'd likely never buy, lean another direction. You say you're a Glock guy. So you like semi autos. How are you set on revolvers?

Some of my favorites are early S&W model 29s. Also have an appreciation for Freedom Arms revolvers as well ( you can find them in your price range used ).
