Help me decide SIG P238 or Colt Mustang XSP or standard Mustang

Settled on the Sig. Very pleased so far. Only hiccups were some cheap Tulammo rounds that failed to fire despite direct strike to primer.

+1 on the P238 HD if you can find one. Shot one - loved it. Wanna buy one, can't find one. I have Colts and have shot Mustangs *but* the Sig is like coming home for me.

I've had issues with the primers on steel cased TulAmmo as well. Never a problem with any brand of brass cased ammo.

After six months, the IOP Sig P238 finally arrived. Three magazines and night sights. Wife loves it and we can't wait to get it out and shoot it.

Good choice OP, the 238 is a great pocket gun! The only problem I've ever had with mine was when the range officer yelled at me for shooting it too fast. :D

I'd love to try the Colt too. Wasn't available when I was in the market a few years ago. I still haven't heard how the reliability of the new Mustangs are - from what I've read they weren't that great before they were discontinued in the 90's.

I tried carrying mine cocked & locked in a pocket-holster for a while, but I never could get the retention right and wasn't satisfied with my draw times. So now I generally just carry it condition-3 loose in pocket and train for Israeli draw, which works much better for me. Depending on your state laws you may have a few options to try. The 238 also works great with a small IWB holster, as long as you don't forget it's there and run it through the laundry. ;)

We hit a snag on ours- the front night-sight is almost dead. In a dark room, when you bring the gun up to eye level all you see are the two rear dots.

I'll have to give Sig a call. I hope they don't want the whole gun or slide. :(

^^^They will send you just the sites. When I wanted to have them installed on mine I wasn't sure what size I needed, so I called them up and was able to order directly from them. They have a great set that is the Sig night-sites for rear and Tru-Glow fiber-optic for the front which I have on there now. That front dot glows nice and bright day or night now. Love it.

Also, I don't have the laser on mine anymore - it was fun for mag-dumps at the range, but I couldn't find a good way to carry it with the laser attached.

I took mine to a local gunsmith who put 'em in for $20. Probably not hard to do if you have a site-pusher.
