As I've said many times in several forums, for those wanting a small 1911 type pistol the overlooked Spanish Llama is as close as it gets. I own several Llamas as well as several Colt gov't .380's, Mustangs etc.
But the Llama has a very short list of differences from the 1911, the extractor, the pin that holds the MSH in is actually a screw/pin in the Llama, I think the mag release turns clockwise to disassemble from the gun instead of CC, and there is a raised rib on most of the good ones. By good ones I mean locked breech, and not that the raised rib is better.
All of my Llama's function reliably, though it took some 1911 type tweaking on some.
Add to that the fact that they are all steel, no MIM, forged frame and slide, I'd have to say they are far superior to any modern .380's at least in those areas for those who appreciate the way guns used to be made.
Next to the Llama I like the Star .380, but it's much closer to the Sig internally, in fact the Sigs and Colts are copies of the Star DK.
