Got a .44mag Rossi carbine (20") incoming, thought I'd get it in the mail today but apparently not, maybe tomorrow. Still I already know I dislike buckhorn/semi buckhorn sights. I like peep sights on my rifles such as the AR and Win9422 that I just put a marble tang sight on.

I'm not so sure about the marble for the 92 though, I mean on the 9422 that sight wobbles and thats apparently part of the design, not the rock solid type of sight I was hoping for so I'm wary of putting a marble on the 92 even though it works really well on the 9422.

Now I've been looking around and the Williams FP seems like an interesting alternative, so does the skinner sight that replaces that god awful safety (though it has no windage setting). But I'd like some feedback from people with mayhap experience with both sights, or some other sight for that matter.

I put Skinner on my Marlin. Simple, low profile, narrow (not like the bulky sidemount sights).

I say you don't need a windage adjustment on a carbine.

I have a Marble's on my 1894C Marlin with a Merit adjustable peep disc, this makes for a very accurate sight picture because you can adjust the size of the aperture for the lighting conditions

No it's the right sight, I got the wrong one first and they replaced it, that doesn't really matter though because right or wrong sight for the gun wouldn't matter with regards to the wobble here.

The base is on solid and does not move. It's the stem that you are supposed screw into the base (I got the improved model with stems you can take on and off) that wobbles. It seems to always return to center but the thing moves when you push on it, it's not solid. Nomatter how hard you tighten it down.

My 92 replica has a Marble's tang sight, and its rock solid and shoots great. That being said, I have the Williams on two of my Marlins and they are also great sights. You can't lose with either.

Mine on my 92 is the standard model. I have the one with the detachable stem on my Remington rolling block and it has given me no trouble either (to be fair, I've only had the Remington about a year, while I've had the 92 ten).

Another vote for the Williams FoolProof. I've used them on various Winchester, Marlin and Savage lever-action rifles and on an old Remington Model 760 pump since the early sixties with great success. Williams products are well designed, constructed and finished and they are nice people to deal with.

If Williams makes a peep sight for it then its a no brainer. Have a Williams on my Marlin 1894 and would not even consider any other sight.
