Well here's another stupid question thread by me, tired of me yet? lol. With the soon to be release of the M1 Carbine by the CMP I've run into an impass as far as the rifle itself and some of the new manufacturers. I'm hoplessly addicted to the WWII Battle Rifles. I was too late on the CMP for the Garand so I've been really thinking about the Carbine so I don't go through that again. However, from what I've read about the M1's from the CMP website, I have to wonder, will it be worth it buying one of those over a new production?

The historical value of something is a factor in my purchasing, I admit that. But the overall shootability of a rifle is first and foremost. I'll put it this way, pristine K.98, all matching, no import marks and can be traced to a particular soldier but isn't accurate past 20 yards, is not something I would buy. Banged up K.98 with force matched numbers but holds 2 MOA at 100 yards is.

I'm also seeing that the accessories and mags are going to be sold seperate if at all... So I guess the problem I'm having is to either

A) take the crap shoot, plunk down the money for the rifle, buy some mags and hope to find an accesory kit and pray it's a decent shooter

B) Go out and buy a new made for a bit more money even though it has no historical value what'so'ever

c) Heck with it all, save my money up and hope to find a decent Tokarev on Gunbroker once my C&R comes

Sitting here at work 10 hours out of my 16.5 hour shift and I've got nothing better then to debate this in my head... I keep this up longer and I'm gonna go nuts by the end of the night lol
