What should I get for a long rifle? I want something capable of great range and pinpoint accuracy with small groups....don't we all, right?

Here's a list of what I would like.
- Chambered in .308
- Synthetic Stock
- 24" to 30" barrel, something heavy, preferably a bull barrel, free floated
- Bolt action, single shot or maybe a 4-5 shot built in mag.
- Scope mounts....bipod mounts too.
- Possibly something with a 2 stage trigger like the ARs?

Yep i think you get the picture, what are you reccomendations? I was thinking maybe a Savage 10FP though it looks like a normal heavy barrel.

Tikka T3, mine will put 3 shots in a penny at 100 yards using cheap factory ammo. Rifle is around $500.

3D, I have rifles in many configurations but what are you wanting it for other than shooting "pennies"?? If you are going to shoot competition then you want a bull barrel and extras. I have a Ruger 77 in '06 that will shoot a 1 inch group at 200 yds. Best hunting rifle I have. Have a Rem. 700 w/tactical scope/bipod that will do better but I will not be carrying the heavy thing. If you are going to carry something a long way then weight becomes a big factor. Ruggedness and dependability is probably a bigger one. Most hunting rifles will outshoot the average shooter and that is all we really need for hunting game. My Savage bull barreled 220 Swift will "dot the eye" on Lincolns head at 100yds but I would not carry that thing far. Hope this rambling helps.
