So as im cleaning them with wool pad on my drill the WCC brass is coming loose .. Didnt think much of it until I started to look and measure the case head it should be at 3.77 but all are at .360 to .355
What caliber? The WCC stands for Western Cartridge Company, owned by Winchester, the 05 is date of manufacture as in 2005. Not sure I understand what is coming loose or what you are measuring but 3.77 has got to be a typo. More information please.
Well this explains why I have a few case heads that are pretty hard to slip in and out of the shell holder and some feel to be barely secured. I was assuming it was due to a extractor burr or something similar. I have only had the issue with 223/556 cases.
Im new to reloading but ive processed about 1k of LC11 my measurements are correct though ..
The boltface on the training bolt is slightly smaller to prevent a "normal" 5.56 round to be loaded into the chamber and fired. The bolt for these cases is lighter weight and doesn't lock into the lugs of the barrel extension like a normal bolt. If you managed to mix a live round in (possible if the bolt face WASN'T different) and it fired it would probably blow the upper apart as the bolt wouldn't be locked into battery. This brass is meant for use ONLY with the lightweight bolt so that it will still cycle correctly. Doesn't necessarily mean it couldn't be used as brass for a wildcat of some sort, but it shouldn't be used for 5.56 as the extractor probably won't grab it correctly.
The 5.56mm SRTA provides a realistic restricted range training alternative to M193/M855 service rounds. The 5.56mm SRTA has a maximum range of 250 meters; an effective range of 25 meters (trajectory match and round to round dispersion comparable to the service ammunition) and provides a functional capability when used in the M16A2 Rifle with the M2 Training Bolt
And thanks for having these boards, Ive been reading the hell out of stuff here ,just registered though . Thank you for the responses ( In advance)
Nic
Oh that was some info I found googling , I found the spec sheet for the orders from D.O.D but havent found the pressure rating for that particular case
I just re sized one everything looks good except the case head is smaller. Understanding that specs are just that but didn't want to rip a case head off because the cartridge has such a lower pressure than a standard one
