I was at the store/rental range the other day and was poking around in the case and noticed a sub-compact that caught my eye. I've been looking for a good sub-compact in 9mm or higher but I want something much more compact overall than a sub-compact Glock.

This looked similar to a Glock but miniaturized. The frame was polymer and the slide looked to have a similar finish to a Glock. The one there was chambered in 380ACP but I was told the model also comes in 9mm. Any ideas what it might have been?

Diamondback DB9

KAS1981 is the winner. That's the one! I've been reading this forum for years and knew I'd get a quick response but wow.

Anyone know anything about the Diamondback DB9? That's what I'm looking at.

I read a few people having a few problems with them, but I don't know if there's really any truth there. I've shot one, and I didn't have any malfunctions. I did have a hard time making nice groups, but I have very little experience shooting such compact guns.

I've also never shot anything that small. What are some larger guns (in the same caliber or not) that you could compare the recoil to? I don't know where I'm going to be able to shoot one so I'm interested in comparing the felt recoil to something I've used.

Have you ever used a Glock in 357SIG? The way I've seen the DB9's recoil described, I imagine the recoil impulse to be like 357SIG in a larger gun.

How do you think the average female shooter would fare with it?

Average? I have no idea.

My wife owns and carries a Kahr PM9 loaded w/ Speer Gold Dot 124gr +P. We put a couple boxes through a PM9 and a PM40 at the rental range, and both agreed that the PM9 was the better choice (and not just for her - I preferred the PM9 as well). For reference: she loves the Glock 22 (full size .40), didn't mind the Glock 27 (subcompact .40), and absolutely hated my old S&W J-Frame .38 w/ +P ammo.

Your wife sounds to have good taste and is definitely a grade tougher than women I know if she doesn't mind a Glock 27.

That's helpful though, in regards to the Kahr.

Just ordered a mechanical recoil for glock27 from Greece !
