Another "help me decide" thread - which polymer gun?

I would say...

If you can try it, then afford it, go for an HK! I'm a newbie here and a newbie to firearms in general, however, I have fired a few polymer pistols. Going from nothing to something in terms of handguns, the HK USP .45 full-size felt the best out of the XD's and Glocks and the 1 M&P I rented in the same caliber. Though, I definately would not pass any one of those up if I had the opportunity to aquire them!!!
The HK made the transition from being an un-armed citizen to an armed citizen a whole lot easier!! I think its performance is the stand out feature. It has great control when firing, feels good in my hands and it was easy to aquire the target in the sights and hit where you were aiming... a newbie bonus!! When I first looked into polymer pistols, I had never shot a .45 before. The first one I shot was a G21. Wow! What a feeling. I then tried the USP, and it was a match made right then and there. I then tried a few others, and even went back to the Glock... but I finally settled with the HK. Do yourself a favor, go down and try and shoot a few different makes, and maybe models, I'm sure you'll find whats right for you.

Witness P

Check out a Witness P. I just picked up my second carry size in 45 today! It's a heck of alot of gun for the money. I've owned a couple in 9 as well, but unfortunately I no longer own the 9's. The only malfs I have had with these guns is that the one I just picked up today does NOT like Blazers.
It's a great design, very accurate and reliable. The polymer carry-size also is quite alot of gun in a manageable package. Very sweet shooting gun...If you can find one and burn a few hundred rounds through it, you might just get hooked like I am. I still love my 1911's, but that CZ action is pretty sweet in SA and DA, with the frame mounted safety it's a real winner!

Several years ago I bought a Glock 23 and liked it so much that I purchased a 27 to go with it. I shot these guns lights out and they were simply stunningly reliable. As the years have gone by I sold or traded both guns for this or that. I now dabble in most other genre, particularly 1911's and wheelguns.

Recently, I decided to buy a new "nightstand" gun, as my wife has never felt quite comfortable with the 1911 format, and I certainly want something with which she feels competent. We shot the new S&W M&P and were both pleasantly impressed. We took home a .40S&W version, slapped the Streamlight on the rail and it's now the "go-to" gun in the bedroom.

Meanwhile, I stumbled across an offer I couldn't refuse - a one-month old GLock 19 in absolutely pristine condition for $300. Well, I'm not a big 9mm fan, but this was just too good to pass up. The wife and I took it to the range to wring it out.

Shooting that Glock, after several years of Glockless existence was like coming home. I instantly recognized the unique trigger and trounced the X-ring. My wife fell in love with the little prize and opted immediately to relegate her Airweight 38 to the safe and adopted the 19 as her new concealment gun.

I love all of my precious firearms. There is a soft spot in my heart for each and every one. But, I've got to tell you; I believe the Glock is the hands-down most reliable and easy shooting handgun I've ever had the pleasure of owning. I know, I know, there is a plethora of other competent makes out there - most of which are a heck of a lot sexier than the black Austrian. But, when I'm asked what handgun I'd recommend for most folks I have to point them towards Gaston. It's not my best looking child, but it's damn sure got the best work ethic.

You won't go wrong with any of the guns that have been listed. But, my vote for the best all-around candidate goes to Glock - hands down.

OK, I will jump in with my .02. I have a G19 and 2 M&P's (the M&P Compact 40 and the full size 40). Frankly, my preference is the full size 40 (although the M&Pc is easier to carry concealed.) I have to vote for the M&P 40, either size. Great guns in every respect.
