I own a S&W 9mm pistol, a S&W 21A pistol, a Taurus 627 .357 mag in 6" and a Taurus .38 snubby. I enjoy the revolvers much more than the pistols and also feel I am much more accurate with the revolvers than the pistols (including the snubby which is amazingly accurate at 7 yards). I also relaod. Now for the problem, I would like to purchase another revolver - any ideas? I heard that the 44 mag is OK to shoot with 44 special loads but a bear on the hands in 44 mag after a while. 32 is too soft for me. Maybe 45 ACP / LC in the Ruger blackhawk? Aughhh:banghead: What do you guys own? What's fun to shoot (mostly target shooting). I pump a few hundred rounds through the 357 a couple times a week - I need something else fun - gimme ideas and reasons why. Thanks....

Looks like you need a big bore - something in .44 magnum I suspect, and don't worry about the little extra recoil. Avoid the light weight frames and you will not have a problem IMO .

Ruger Blackhawk .45ACP/.45Colt would seem to be an excellent choice.

Big bore, can take tail-stompin' hot .45 loads for any North American game, adjustable sights, durable as heck, can fire cheap .45ACP fodder, has tons of grips and holsters on the market for it, waranteed for life by Ruger. Etc. etc. etc.

Further, you don't have an SA revo yet, so you need one anyway. Might as well kill several birds with one stone.

Oh, also they're more affordable than any of the S&W big-bore DA revos, and aren't a huge freakin' brick like the S&W X-frames.

Is that enough of a case for you? I'm sure there are a few benefits to the .45 Convertible Blackhawk that I might have missed.

I would suggest the S&W 500 4 inch gun. I love mine but haven't had the chance to shoot an extend session with it.

I would be all over a 45 ACP with moon clips in a revolver if you like that platform better than auto's. 45 shoots easy and reloads easy.

Revolvers and Pistols

I enjoy the revolvers much more than the pistols and also feel I am much more accurate with the revolvers than the pistols....
I don't know about you, suh, but all my revolvers are pistols! I'll be durned if I let those magazine dropping brass flippin' Yankees determine what my pistols are and aren't. They're just mad because they know that the best pistol is a revolver! The next thing you know, they'll want us to call their pea-shooters semi-automatics instead of autos.

But that's okay, son, I'll forgive ya if everybody else will!

Another vote for the Blackhawk, if you want a SA. If it were I, though, I'd look for a Ruger Redhawk in .45 Colt. They were only made from 1988 to 2005, so it might take some time to find one. However, it sounds like you have some nice guns to hold you over. :D
