Help me pick a lightweight rifle

I have a lefty Tikka in 308. It is a phenomenal rifle in every respect. It is by far the slickest handling rifle I own.

Just wanted to update this post and let everyone know I ended up purchasing the tikka T3X.

I’m also happy to say I love the rifle. It shoots better then some of the heavy barrel bolt guns I have had in the past.

These were 100yd targets 1” dots 5 shot groups. For some reason I always end up pulling one lol.

Well, don't know about the others but my pick would be the Tikka T3. Mine was second hand in 338 Federal. It's a keeper. I think the targets shared with us in this thread speak volumes. I'm nosing around for a pre-owned T3 in 30-06.

The only issue I have with my mini is the mag. The release is in front of the mag and like you say, that's where most people carry a rifle. I wish I had a dollar for every time I've brushed that mag release and the mag fell out. I suppose in time I'll get used to it but it's still a PIA. It really is a very light rifle with a #1 barrel. I'm not sure anyone makes a lighter rifle.

I bought it on a whim when Cabelas closed them out. I would tell you how much I paid for it but you probably wouldn't believe it.:D

I’d tape it in place and short stroke the bolt to unload it. Then you don’t have to worry about leaving the mag back at the shack or in the wrong pocket.

Of the three centerfire high powered rifles here three have detachable magazines. Nary a problem. Rifles are smooth and fed very well. The rifles are well designed and in good repair. It's as likely for me to lose the bolt as the magazine. Going off leaving the magazine someplace does not reflect on the rifle.

Addendum: Should have read of the centerfire rifles here three have detachable magazines. One each A bolt, T3 and T/C Dimension. Of the three the A bolt can be loaded from the top. Magazine is removable and attached to the floor plate. Use of tape on the magazine is good.

Good choice, and the right choice. I have one in 7-08. You will thank yourself every time you work the action and with every shot you make.
