More on the lighter side 1025 - 1050 ish
FPS is good mostly shooting pistol indoors at a range I’m a member of ,
5min drive and a low membership cap ,
So I don’t need any thing higher velocity.

Other -W572
It's similar to HS-6 but no magnum primer necessary although I'm still using them.

But, I use nothing but W231/HP-38 for range/plinking ammo. It works great for that application.

I like it and it seems accurate too. I have not had a chance to really check accuracy or send it over the chronograph yet. More to follow.

In order of use in the 9mm; HP-38, Ramshot Silhouette, AA#5. Have just picked up some AA#2 to try, have some loaded already but haven't shot it yet.

I shoot a lot indoors which is why I really like the Silhouette. It really is less smokey. Also my 380 Witness Pavona absolutely loves the stull and shoots it the most consistently..

Do you load for any other pistol caliber? I'f so i'd look for something that might work for both. HP38/WW231 works for many cartridges.
I think Titegroup is my favorite 9MM powder based on flexibility, cost and availability.
Excellent advice. Lots of powder work well in 9mm. Other calibers like 38spl or 45acp are a little more finicky (my opinion) when it comes to powder.

I voted BE86, but I have used lots of other powders in 9mm with success. Titegroup, Silhouette, Power Pistol, AA#5, VV320 (one of the cleanest) just to name a few. I generally load low recoil loads, around 1050fps with 115gn bullets. Generally speaking, faster burning powders will be a little cleaner at the lower velocities.

P-365 Range Trip Pic 3.JPG
90 Gr with 3N37 - (Fact Rd) - 124 Gr with N320 - RMR 124 Gr MPR with Silhouette (Also worked well at max with BE-86) - 125 Gr with N340

AA # is good for max, WSF is good for max. Lots of good choices out there.

Obviously there are a great many good powders for 9mm and I have used a bunch of them. I like VVN340 a lot but, judging from the price, VV likes it more.
AA#5 meters well and burns clean. I got a good buy on Maxam CSB-1, it works very well.

I used to be a big AA #5 fan, until other choices became more available and AA changed it.

I also think the 'sweet spot' is wider. When I load target 9mm with Titegroup or Sport Pistol I get great results at 3 or 4 charge weights. If I do the same with slower powders there's usually only one charge that performs well, and as you noted it will be dirty. When I make full-power 9mm CFE-Pistol or BE86 work very well, but I far prefer TG or Sport Pistol for lesser loads.

Can’t believe no one has suggested unique yet. I love the cornflake lookin stuff.

What's funny is... judging by my avatar... I LOVE Unique... I use it in everything I load for. Except 9mm. I just really don't like how it behaves in 9mm at max charge. Granted, I don't load a lot of 9mm anymore, I just buy factory, but I have a 1K box of bullets I need to load up and am following this thread to see where I might go next. BE86, WSF, and CFE-P mentioned a lot, and I know some of those can be used in the .45ACP, so those look promising.

Of the ones listed... not a big fan of TiteGroup, I bought some during the Great Powder Shortage as a stop-gap, I'm trying to get rid of it all in my .45ACP. I don't like how it runs hot, but the performance is there. I'm guessing the same would be true with 9mm.

If you're going for full-power loads. try BE86 first.

Try Sport Pistol in what are typcially TG applications. It meters better, performs at least as well, and burns cooler. Hard to imagine a better 'target' powder for autoloader calibers.

I voted Silhouette because it is my preferred full power 9mm powder.... but those who are recommending 231 for plinking loads are spot on. I have loaded thousands of plinking/target rounds with 231 or Red Dot with complete satisfaction.

When I first started reloading 9mm a friend recommended WSF. It's the only powder I've ever used for both 115gr and 124gr X-treme RN. The powder meters well in my Dillon 1050 and I'm extremely happy with the accuracy at the range.

I like all of the AA powders as they meter so well.

In 9 I'm a fan of AA#5, Power Pistol and Bullseye - all meter very well and do well across the range. Although I find PP the cleanest of these at lower power levels.

My traditional go-to for 9x19 has been Green Dot, but I've loaded about 6K recently using BE86 and been satisfied with it.

Alliant has BE86 data for 9mm, .45ACP, and even the .41MAG... so I might give it a spin...
Can't speak for 41mag, but I've used BE86 in 357 and 44 mag, and it does great for mid-range loads in those calibers. It is not very position sensitive.

May I ask what 9mm factory loads are so accurate in your firearms that it scares you, what loads are you handloading and what kind of shooting do you do?
Not to answer for anyone but I'm fairly sure he didn't literally mean the load scares him. I sometimes say that to indicate a load oo powder is amazingly accurate it's almost supernatural. (supernatural loosely=scary)

I was using Unique for .45, and tried it in 9mm, and it gave me the willies, because I had to compress the load. (It worked, and I never had any problems.) But I am running mostly 9mm now, and I find Titegroup runs pretty clean, and meters a lot better, I need to really bulk up on it.
