hello,
well its that time again i am wanting a new rifle, i just sent off for my c&r license but i am afraid i will go crazy on surplus rifles, lol, but as of what i have right now, i have a ruger 10/22 and three other 22s, i have a 742 woodsmaster 30.06 some kind of old ww1 gun im going to post a pic of it so i can get help identifiy it, and i have a few shot guns, should i get a win 70 300wm, 7mm mag, or 308, or should i get reming 700bdl in 375h&h or 300 ultramag, i want a powerful yet accurate rifle that i can go out to about 500yards with and still keep it in a 3" shot group, and i am going to get a couple sks's and ak's and a few other chep guns, but i am going to wait on my c&r
thanks,

Slow down, we can only help spend your money one rifle at a time (wait, that's not true?!) ;)

3" at 500 yards? Uh, that's a pretty freak'n accurate rifle (~.6MOA)

I'm sure good advice will follow:

3" @ 500.......

Look at the Rem 700Sendero in 308 or the police model PSS....IIRC
Savage also has been making inroads with their model 10 and 110 with the new accu-trigger.

It will take work or money, but is possible. I would look to do 1 MOA or 5" @ 500yds

Also what are you hunting Paper or Deadly Zombie Teddy-bears, or Wild Large game???????

Also if you get it in 30-06 you can share ammo with your 742
