I have 2 vx-1s and 2 vx-2s. The later are 4-14 I think. They were selected because they offered a fine duplex at that power. I rarely have it above 6x. If you are going shoot 400 yards - dedicate a few boxes to that exercise. It will take a few to take it out of the hail mary catagory. Don't pick a scope by the price - by the best that will do your job. I stuck with leupold after a bad horsewreck that left me with no wood and a 30 degree bend in my BAR. My gunsmith built me a new stock and straightened the barrel. The scope was still spot on.
