thanks for the advice guys, we got a set of muffs, but i didn't think about glasses today when we bought the gun. last weekend, when he shot my gun, i put my shooting glasses on his face.
i kept the whole thing a secret until, when in the middle of looking "at another gun" i asked hin to try it out for size. he did as i asked, just thinking i wanted his approval. when i saw that it fit him pretty good, i told him" i am glad it fits, because its for you! he was shocked, and totally suprised. he jumped up, grabbed me around the neck, pulled himself up and gave me the biggest hug, and said really? THANKS! , THANKS!, REALLY? AND THANKS ABOUT THREE MORE TIMES! he was on cloud nine the rest of the day. i let him sleep with it (well, most of it, i kept the bolt out of it). i did the same thing with my first gun. except i got it for christmas, and it was a bb gun. i will probably have to buy him one of those someday as well (he is using my bb gun @ present) . i will wait until he is old enough and responsible enough to keep it in his room all by his self. this one is going to live in the safe! except for shooting sessions.

the CZ 452 scout rifle, and a 5 shot clip, sling mounting studs (installed), 500 rounds of remington cyclone ammo. he was (and still is) estatic! he asked to sleep with it again tonight. we went out this morning and put 100 rounds through it. i put 5 through it, the 1st, just to make sure it would function safely. then a few here and there when he was having a little difculty. i think i may have opened the barn door, and inadvertantly, broke it. now, all he talks about is when we are going to go shooting again! i know, it will settle down after a few weeks. at least i know he likes it!
