Help me scope my Savage

I just picked up a Savage 110GXP3 in .30 '06 and want to put a scope on it.

I've never owned a scoped rifle, so I will confess complete ignorance on the whole subject.

I'm not a hunter.......I wanted a bolt action rifle that I could do some reasonably accurate target shooting with at a few hundred yards.

Any sites that can help with some edumacation on the subject?

Any suggestions for a reasonably priced set up? What sort of features/specifications should I be shopping for?
