Help me with my Marlin Camp Carbine .45

I have a Marlin Camp Carbine .45 caliber that I have only shot twice. I have heard stories of the stock cracking. What accessories do I need to prevent this and is there anything else I should add to it. I am sitting on a good supply of .45 ammo that is begging to be shot. I know there is some type of buffer, but any recommendations on magazines, etc. Thanks.
