All, I am planning a trip to Las Vegas tomorrow and I want to confirm my understanding of Las Vegas CCW Laws.

I currently hold a CCW permit in Utah and I do NOT have a CCW in Las Vegas. We are planning on driving to the strip for a couple of days for a mini vacation.

My understanding is as follows:

1. When I get to the Nevada border, I need to do one of two things.

a. Unload my gun, and put it in the trunk of the car. (Or)
b. Place my loaded gun (with one in the chamber) in the glove compartment of my car so it is "not on my person"

2. Once I get to Las vegas strip, I'd like to be able to take my gun to my hotel room and keep it locked in the safe so I can have it at night.

My question is, can I transport the unloaded gun up to my hotel room if it is in the case? This is where I'm a bit confused. Or do I just need to leave the loaded gun in my car?

Any help is greatly appreciated! Thanks!

You can legally transport the handgun from your vehicle to your hotel room by it being unloaded and in a locked container or by open carrying it.
If you open carry, the hotel can/may ask you to secure the firearm in your vehicle, secure it in your room, secure it with hotel security or to leave the property.
