Does anyone have or used one of the sight soldering jigs that Brownells sells. I'm looking to make one and was hoping someone might share a few dimensions and whether the jig is all aluminum or are some parts steel.

Are you asking about the "ramp soldering jig" which goes for just under $100, or their sophisticated "Forster Universal Jig", which goes for close to $500?
The former less-expensive one probably has an aluminum base, but the other parts look to be made of round steel rod. The more-expensive unit looks like an aluminum base also, but a couple of other centering parts which could also be aluminum.
If one was to use a brazing torch to do the job, then steel would be preferred wherever a flame might touch.

When I was poor I would use the Brownells catalog photo and description (some dimensions given) to make my own copy of the tool or fixture. ONe in particular is the Marylland Gun Works (MGW) revolver frame wrench. I bought one insert and built the frame of the wrench around that based on the photo and dimensions in their listing. Years later I bought a factory built one at a an estate sale and they were near perfect matches.

Good way to save money.
