My friend just recently bought a used model 12 off the used rack at a Gander Mountain. We looked it over and everything seemed alright, minus a few dings here and there. What was comforting though was the year warranty on the gun from Gander.
So we go and shoot it. First thing we noticed was the rounds would not stay in the magazine. If you did not place it in the mag just so, the magazine would dump not only that round, but every round in the mag tube. OK, a worn part, should be easily replaced. At about 100 rounds another problem emerged where the forend could not be pumped without placing a bit of forward force on it first. Both problems remained even after a proper break down and cleaning (and yes, it was cleaned prior to shooting as well.)
Here's the kicker. He took it back to GM to have the smith fix or replace the parts that were causing the issues and what do ya know, he doesn't know how to fix it, or was at least unwilling to do so. So now my friend has a semi working model 12 pump that he doesn't know what to do with. I offered my assistance, but know diddly squat about M12's to be of any use.
Do these seem like simple fixes, or should he just ask for a refund for the purchase?
Oh, and BTW, Gander Mountain SUCKS!
