Hi all,
I would like to hear peoples opinions on this. I’m in the position to purchase a Star Firestar 40. The price is $259. I’m thinking the gun might make a nice CC piece because of it’s compact and slim-line size. I know it’s heavy, but I carry a lot of weight in my pockets anyway, and I figure the weight should help control recoil. I have found a holster that it will work in, and think I may even be able to find others for it. The main thing about this gun is that it points better for me than any other gun I’ve looked at (Glocks, Kahr, Kel-Tec, J-frame). The gun just seems to fit me very well, and I’m thinking that that’s one of the best reasons to get it.
The cons I know of are that there are limited parts, and I’ve also heard that the safety tends to go off too easily on these weapons (although this one seems pretty positive). I also know that there probably aren’t many holsters out there for them, but have discovered that the holster for another current firearm will fit the Star. Warranty obviously won’t be an issue since the company no longer exists, but as solid as the gun is I don’t expect problems.
Is there anything about this deal that I haven't considered?
