Im looking for a revolver. 3" barrel give or take a little, 38spl/357, decent fixed sights, something more pronounced/better than you'd find on a 642 or sp101.

The sp101 would be a great choice except for the sights. any suggestions?

Look for a used S&W model 64 (.38spl) or 65 (.357). Or a Ruger Speed Six or Police Service Six. I have a 3" Service Six and Rugers fixed sights are great, a bit better rear sight definition then on my 3" m65-3.

Keep in mind the Ruger in not a target gun. The sights are designed for no snag are very good at that.

S&W model 65

You can find them used for a good price. It is a fine .357 gun and many were made with a 3" barrel. Also a 3" SP101 is a fine choice. I have both and keep them loaded for home defense.

Just picked up a 4" S&W Model 64 today - seriously sweet fixed sight .38 special revolver. Lots of places selling trade ins these days.

Fire as many as you can get your hands on... I think after having done that you will value the buttersmooth/linear trigger of the S&W .357's...
