Help!! please, lever dropping on my Winchester 94 dropping

I would appreciate some feed back on how to correct the dropping of my lever on a Winchester 94 45 LC Trapper. The lever keeps falling down.

There is a friction Stub & Spring (3794X & 3894X) in the link (4994X) that drops out of the bottom of the receiver when you open the lever.

It snaps into a recess in the receiver bottom when the lever is closed to keep it closed.

I would guess the plunger is stuck with dried oil & dirt, or the spring is broke.
