Hey folks, i have a .22 rimfire rifle that somebody drilled and tapped for a (non rimfire) scope. the rifle currently has weaver bases, the centers of which measure 6 1/2 inches apart. the problem is my scope tube is too short to mount. my guestion is are there rings out there that will fix this or do i need to find a longer scope? pre thanks for any help.

Can you reverse the rings, or get an offset pair? This is a fairly common situation & is easily solved.

Photos would help . What rifle and what base rings and scope was on it?? Could a weaver type base be used instead . You will find today most of us use non rimfire scopes. I have a couple tactical scopes of 6-24 power but they will adjust the parallax down to 10 yards so they work fine. My wife has a non-rimfire 4-16 scope on hers.

Extension rings work fine. Depending on what bases you're using extension bases might work too (I think Weaver makes an extension version of most of their bases). I use a set of Weaver extension bases on my Savage 110 and they've worked great for years.

can you pull off the 2 piece bases and replace them with a solid picatinny rail? you would have plenty of mounting options then. or even get one of those rails that clamps on to 2 weaver bases

the rifle is a winchester 72. im not sure what rings and scope were on it previous. all i know is the rear base is marked "12" and the front base is marked "17". the picatinny rail would be an excellent idea but the irons would interfere. i would post pics but im exclusively a cell phone high roader.. i didnt know they made a one piece base that mounted on to 2 piece weaver bases. interesting.

Just buy another scope. Probably will cost less than the mount you are looking for....chris3
