Please help me to identify this old revolver. It was found in the closet when my uncle died last month. I have attached a file that contains a picture of the revolver.

It looks to be a Spanish copy of a Smith & Wesson Military & Police Hand Ejector, the forerunner of the Model 10. We'd need more info on the specific markings to be able to give you a definite answer. There should be some maker's marks somewhere on it, likely along the top of the barrel, and a close-up of the logo on the grip would probably help too.

Your right, it does appear to be a Spanish copy of a S&W. I can't make out the initials on the grip; could it be maybe a product of Garate Anitua y Compania of Eibar? They turned out some of the better copies of the Military and Police model. Some other manufacturers were: Orbea Hermanos or Orbea y Cia, Escodin, and Arizmendi Zulaica y Compania; all located in Eibar.

What you have is a Spanish copy of a Smith & Wesson Model of 1905 4th change. (Same as the other two members responded) This maker did not seek to counterfiet, but merely copy the Smith & Wesson revolver.

I appreciate your responses and help with identifying the revolver.
Thanks.

Looks like an Orbea, or possibly a Tracoala(sp.) revolver.

Can't quite make out the grip or frame crest, but probably an Orbea. From what I've gathered, the Orbeas are decently made revolvers.

Chambered for .38 long Colt. Will supposidly chamber and fire .38 Specials, but made for the lower powered .38 longs, a black powder round. So maybe not a good idea to try shoot .38 Specials in it!
