Rings to compliment this scope mount?

I'm admittedly a cheapskate. I've been using Weaver bases and rings for many and many a decade, and they've always worked just fine. I've had rifles with one-piece bases and two-piece. I far and away prefer the two-piece setup.

My 2¢

Thank you for the replies. I can use a Weaver one piece instead if it is solid and less expensive. I am looking at the one piece for more adjustability. When I wear my three inches of cold weather gear I need the scope a bit further back to maintain my eye relief. The one piece shouldn't be a problem since the rifle has a DBM.

I like the one-piece, but only because I'm anal-retentive. I do think the two-piece bases are as-good, and as-solid. By using a picatinny rail on all of my centerfire rifles, I can switch scopes across my Mark V magnum action, Vanguard long action and Remington short action rifles. The only time I really concern myself with such flexibility is to mount my 36X scope to work-up handloads. But, as I said for reliability, stability, I see nothing wrong either with two-piece bases, or with Weaver products.

If your going 1 piece, get a taller P-Rail (picatinny rail) than the EGW rail. It will make loading that blind magazine rifle 100% easier than if you use a low type P-Rail.

Brownells sells the higher rails for your prospective Savage 11 as does Ken Farrell industries.

The EGW will get you to cussin with the first round you try to load! lol

Use a 'higher' P-Rail and 'lower' height rings... this is better than a low P-Rail and higher rings anyways!

As for rings...1 piece set-up. Take a look at the TPS brand, offered in steel and aluminum they are Id10t proof and will not crush a scope tube if you become over zealous while tightening the cap screws. We use TPS rings on a lot of our build now, an excellent ring! Offered at Brownells.

Brownells also will have taller P-Rails. Ken Ferrall makes what may be the very best P-Rails and rings but are more costly than most.

Leupold PRW/QRW rings are also good, not as good as the Farrells but....

For the 2 piece set-up... Talley ring mounts, the best, period! But if you need to save cash, the Warne vertical split rings can work.

+1 on the QRWs.

I have the 20 MOA version of that base and 30mm QRWs on my new build. Its the first time I strayed from Leupolds standard mounts or DNZ One piece but Im happy so far-

Me too. Either works fine though. Some will say the one piece is more solid. I dunno.

A one-piece Picatinny base provides considerably more fore/aft movement of the scope while still maintaining a maximum (ideal) distance between the rings ... that's the main appeal of one-piece bases, to me anyway. It's possible that a one piece base increases torsional and axial stiffness by some marginal amount but that's not why I use them. A one-piece Picatinny base is a good idea on a Savage action because the actions are LONG as compared to Remington.

The fact that the Ken Farrell base shown above isn't notched along its whole length would have me looking elsewhere, particulay since the Savage short action is so long.

One caveat: I have Tally Lightweight one-piece rings/bases on my Savage 16 FCSS and they work well (after extensive lapping).

The Savage I am looking at is the model with a DBM so I would not be too concerned with not easily being able to load from the top.

You can get the Ken Ferrall P-Rails with pickets across the entire top, you can also have him make you a rail any way, within reason, you want or need it.

I can see using mounts of that quality on a real tactical rifle but if it sounds over the top for your purposes then take a look at the Warne Maxima bases and rings or just use the Warne rings on the EGW mount. The Maximas are 2 piece but they are excellent quality and they are all steel.

Is your rifle's receiver a round one or flat rear? Also what size scope objective are you using. I've used the low rings up to a 44mm objective with no problem (when used with the Warnes bases).

I believe the 11 and 16 are round rear but I will have to double check that. I have Warne Maxima Rings on my wife's grandfathers lever gun. Just wanted to use a one piece base to ensure I can bring the scope far enough rearward.

Used to be, one piece bases only had three screw holes. So, a two-base setup had a third more strength in shear against recoil.

After my father had an Oopsie with a .257 Roberts, making the bedroom walls bulge a bit, I got into the habit of not just looking to see if a chamber was empty, but sticking a pinky into the chamber. Easier to do, with a two-base setup. :D

And, generally, I never mess with a scope once it's set up and working righteously.

I've used the Farrell 1 piece mounts on three builds so far. For my own Savage 10FP .308, I chose the Farrell 15 MOA 1 piece steel base and am useing Warne Maxima QD steel rings.
Here's a pic.
