Help with 45ACP Loads 200 gr RS

The only 45 ACP bullets I could find locally are Berry 200 gn RS which according to their website is the same as rnfp.

Unfortunately, none of my books list this type of bullet. I was wondering if anyone has a titegroup formula for this caliber/bullet.

Before anyone asks or comments, I have also checked Hogdon's site, but I am always open to other websites with load data that can be trusted.

I do not have any data for tightgroup but I load rainier bullets and be sure you use lead data for those berrys if they are plated.

The easiest way is use Berry's suggestions. This is from their website:
FAQ: How do I load Berry's Preferred Plated Bullets?
Plated bullets occupy a position between cast bullets and jacketed bullets. They are soft lead, but have a hard outer shell on them. When loading plated bullets we have found best results using low- to mid-range jacketed data in the load manual. You must use data for a bullet that has the same weight and profile as the one you are loading. Do not exceed mid-range loads. Do not use magnum loads.


I've loaded thousands of rounds of Berry's bullets, and they're one of my favorite "just messing around" bullets.

What the powder is "pushing" is the weight and the material type. Understanding this you are then free to use...

1) the same load data as any other 200gr bullet listed with TG...
2) as long as the data is for plated or jacketed bullets, and...
3) ends up with the bullet seated to the same depth or longer.

Hodgdon shows a 200gr SPR JHP @ 1.155" with 5.2gr TG

When only one load is shown, that will be the MAX load. So you'll want to start 10% below that and work up. 5.2 minus 0.5 = 4.7gr for starting.

This data is directly off the Hodgdon website. Learn to use the published data from their free website, or from one of their free powder booklets given away at gun stores.
