Help with 9mm and 40s&w load

I have HP-38 and WST powder looking loads for a precision delta 115 FMJ 9mm and also precision delta 165 FMJ 40s&w . Can't find much data for WST Powder. Thanks for the replys.

For the 115gr FMJ try 4.8-4.9gr of HP-38. Hodgdon's data works well for both bullets.

+1. My 9mm reference load is 115 gr Winchester FMJ with 4.8 gr W231/HP-38 loaded at 1.135" OAL.

Current Hodgdon load data:

115 gr Speer GDHP W231/HP-38 .355" OAL 1.125" Start 4.7 gr (1075 fps) 25,300 CUP - Max 5.1 gr (1167 fps) 28,100 CUP

1999 Winchester load data:

115 gr FMJ W231 Start 4.4 gr (1045 fps) 25,900 PSI - Max 4.9 gr (1135 fps) 32,600 PSI

There is no current published load data for 9mm and WST nor in 1999 Winchester load data.


I use 155/165/180 gr 40S&W jacketed bullets made by Montana Gold and FMJs are of similar Round Nose Flat Point bullet shape as Precision Delta 165 gr FMJ bullet. For 165 gr MG FMJ/JHP bullets, I use 5.0 gr of W231/HP-38 loaded at 1.125" OAL.

Current Hodgdon load data:

165 gr Sierra JHP W231/HP-38 .400" OAL 1.125" Start 4.8 gr (946 fps) 28,100 PSI - Max 5.3 gr (1001 fps) 32,500 PSI

165 gr Sierra JHP WST .400" OAL 1.125" Start 4.5 gr (916 fps) 26,400 PSI - Max 5.1 gr (995 fps) 33,300 PSI
