Do you plan on leaveing it stock?
If so than go with the PT.
If not I would look into the smith's that you would be working with and ask them.
The Springfield is a good basic platform that just about every smith will work on.
I'm not saying that the won't work on the PT cause it not a good gun. They just have certain guns that they will and will not work on.
If you are going to leave it as is. Shop around call a couple other places. Look up FFL's in your area to do transfer's.
Don't limit yourself to one dealer unless you are totally dedicated to them.
If you can save $100 by driving 50 miles (as long as your not driving a gas hog) you can make a day trip out of it and get out Of the house maybe see another 1911 you like.
