Sixgun Nut
If you're really interested in the S&W designs, do yourself a favor and handle a #3 Russian as well. It has a different grip design and IMHO, is far more comfortable and more attractive than the "Schofield".
AethelstanAegen ... I'll post some pics here when I pick up the Richards Transition (going to get it in .44 Special). Thanks again everyone, it's been a big help!..
Doubting Thomas Ruger NM Vaquero/Blackhawk .45 Convertible.
This after having used an original 1st gen 1882 Colt; various Rugers; a Cimmaron; Uberti SAA and multiple percussions; 2nd Gen. Colt 1851, original Colt l851; original 1860 Army; two Centennial 1860s; 3 Ruger Old Armies.
My stainless .45 NM Vaquero is just about indistinguishable from my nickelled 1882 Colt from a couple of feet away and feels and balances EXACTLY the same. It has everything the old Colt does plus improvements, and will still be going strong when my grandson is a senior citizen.
I guarantee that the other brands will not.
It's on the agenda but not in the budget (at least now, haha)DammitBoy: Buy them all.
I had heard that, but the Cimarron had all the features I wanted NIB and has a great high polish blue finish. I'm really happy with it.CraigC PS, the Springfield internal lock is easily disposed of.
