I had a glenfield 788 12 guage drilled and tapped for choke tubes 15+ years ago. Gunsmith included 3 chokes with it. I know those guns are cheap and not feasible for spending money to upgrade but it was a family hand down that I wanted to make usable since it was fixed full choke. Anyway, the place that did it is long since closed and now I want to buy some other chokes for it. I have no idea which ones to get. Attached is a pic of two of them on the right, there are two Rem chokes on the left for comparing.

Also, how/can I determine if steel is safe in these?

Thoughts.

Some Micrometers will get you the I.D. (Inside Diameter) which gives you the constriction. Your LGS may be able to, and a machine shop or tool and die shop can surely measure the thread pitch for you.

Quite possibly it's the old Truchoke, AKA .795"X44TPI.

But do not guess. Send it off to Briley's or Carlson's, they'll match it up.

It may be tru choke.
My calipers show just under 0.8 inch od and best I can count it is 44tpi.
Overall length is 1.6inches, but I have yet to find the length of tru chokes online yet.
