I am having trouble with my second generation Colt detective special.
I don't know the exact terminology, but this is what happens.
I works great with snap caps, or with mild factory ammo. problems come if I shoot hotter loads, not +P or anything. The first DA shot is fine, but after that the trigger pull is "choppy" or starts smooth and kind of "sticks" before dropping the hammer. Single action is always fine.
Any Ideas?

Also, please recommend a gunsmith if you know one who knows Colts.

Thanks, Mirage

I suggest a pro look at it.

I recommend Colt, who know more about it then anyone, or:

Pittsburgh Handgun Headquarters
1330 Center Ave.
Pittsburgh, PA 15229
(412) 766-6100

Either will repair it in short order AND do it RIGHT.

I specifically DO NOT recommend taking it to a local gunsmith. Very few these days understand the older Colt action.
