Help with Dan Wesson Value

I bought a monson 44 blue finish with a 6" barrel and extra vented barrel for 400 dollars a couple months back. It does have the purple and blue finish but looks new otherwise. Have had a palmer DW 357 for 30+ years and would not trade for any firearm. If selling get what your market can bear, you can always go lower. If you have the box, book and tools you might get 500+, maybe. Darn good guns ,I would never trade for a colt

I would go around 475-500, a big plus in my book is that it doesn't have the power ported barrel, thus allowing one to shoot cast boolits. Good luck

I paid $400 and 25 ship and $20 transfer for my blued one just like your SS one, and I was very happy it went so cheaply. A similar gun, it even had the "plum" frame, went for over $500 recently. A friend found an SS .44 with the heavy shroud, along with a ported 6" and non ported 6" barrels, with two grips, the factory wood and a rubber one, and the wrench, no box, and he instantly snatched it up for $525. It's in great shape and I showed him how to take it apart and clean it up, and he shot it last week, and he's hooked!

I really don't understand the pricing on DW guns at all. If you would sell it on the right day, you would probably get $600 or so. On the wrong day, $500 is about the best you could hope for. Sadly, that's the way it is.

cindynles, I know someone that just picked up one for $525 plus shipping if I'm not mistaken. So I would think you could get at least $500 to $550 pretty quick on a forum or maybe more on GunBroker but then you have to pay fees.

Madcratebuilder, you got a great deal there! Years ago, I bought a box of DW parts from a gun store that was closing, and inside was more than enough parts to build a complete gun, along with extra barrels and shrouds. I made out like crazy when I sold all the extra stuff I never would need. I made about $700 on a $50 investment.

I bought my .44 in Jan, I still can't believe how cheap it went for. It's got a couple of minor nicks, and that's it. I wonder if the plum frame scared off bidders? The seller had perfect feedback, the pics showed nothing wrong, but for some reason, it went about $100 lower than any other blue DW .44 in about the same shape.

I took it completely apart, looking for the "gotcha", but there wasn't anything, I just got a great deal! I have a lot of DW parts I have bought cheap over the last few years anyway, so anything short of a major problem would have been an easy fix.
