Help with first .45 semiauto for carry?

I haven't seen anyone recommending the new Ruger P345. It comes with a light rail and is about the size of a lightweight commander, and is double action.

I think people tend to fixate on feature counts too much and not enough on getting what really works.

My answer would be a single-stack 1911 by a major maker with a >= 4" barrel. If it must be DA/SA get the P220.

Colt LW Commander, I have it and love it. It is VERY accurate, and as easy to carry as everything else I've carried from CZ compact to SW both wheel and auto, to Ruger SP101 to Glock.

I noticed no one has suggested a Para LDA.

I prefer a DOA or Glock Safe Action for carry. I bought a Taurus 605C as a carry gun, and I really like it, but I find that I almost always shoot it single action at the range. I know I should practice shooting double action because that's how I'd need to use it in a pinch, but I can't shoot it worth a dang double action. I'm thinking about picking up another carry gun, and two of the guns I've been considering are the Glock 36 (I've shot one and like it quite a lot, and I already own a G21) or the Para Carry.

But I might not go with a .45. With +p ammo, a 9mm or even a .38 are pretty potent weapons.
