The Frong Sight on my XD9Subcompact has somehow drifted way off to the right. I noticed this today when I was shooting. I was way off the mark but all the bullets were in a nice group

So I tapped it back with a brass tool with very little effort. The FS has no wiggle factor and I cant push it with my fingers. But with the little effort it took for me to tap it in I'm speculating that the sight will drift on the dovetail again.

What can I do to keep it in one spot, or should I just make it SAs problem and send it back to them if the sight drifts again?

I really dont want to be without my Subcompact.

You could take it out, use a center punch to raise a dimple on the bottom of the sight and reinstall it.

A dimple (as suggested by JackC), but put I'd put in the bottom of the dovetail. Maybe two dimples.

(Lowering the middle raises the surrounding area, making for a tighter fit.)

Remove the sight, clean the dove-tail with acetone, clean the sight also, then use GREEN 640 Loc-tite in the dovetail , drift in in and get it where you want it and wipe the excess Loc-tite off. Let it set for 24 hours and it will never move again. Blue Loc-tite is for holding screws that you want to be able to remove and will not work for your problem. I do not use blue, only red and green. Merry Xmas!

I've always found using Loc-Tite (or similar adhesives) on sights to be a problem -- as the best time to get the gun sighted in, at the range, isn't always the best time to apply Loc-Tite.

I prefer the "dimple" approach -- unless you can clearly mark the sight and Loc-Tite it later.

Blue loctite is for non-permanent locking, like maybe a sight that you want to adjust again someday? It is made to be applied to a joint prior to assembly.

Green loctite is for non-permanent locking of something adjustable and is applied after the adjustment is made, to lock it where you left it. It is made to penetrate a threaded joint and set up in there.

Red loctite is for permanent locking and requires heat for disassembly - do not use.

I imagine green or blue, but not red, would likely work. :)
