Hi folks,
The safety on my Savage 110GL series J won't come back to the safe position with thumb pressure. I can bring it back with a dull screwdriver but not thumb pressure. It does however come forward or "off safe" with thumb pressure. I sprayed a bunch of Break Free on it but with no luck. Any help will be appreciated. Thanks, John

Thanks Rick,
I appreciate your response. I'm pretty lame when it comes to "gunsmithing" so do you think this would be to much for an amature gunsmith?:D

It's really not too difficult, J. Parker. Just take your time and study how things go together and how they interact. If it looks like more than you want to bite off, it should be a pretty inexpensive job for a 'smith.

If you read through both those threads, they should give you a pretty clear indication of how to go about it.

Good luck!

Rick

When i followed those procedures on my Savage 110 I had good results. Prior to following them I took the screws out and squared them up on a piece of scrap that I tapped to take the screw and trued up the face of the screws by grinding and then lapping the piece of scrap on a lapping plate. This created a nice flat concentric face on the screws to bear against the internals. It did wonders for the trigger action. The screws that they used in my action looked like they came out of a standard bin at Sears after being run over by a truck.
