My friend has a savage model 340. The trigger is unsafe. If you squeeze the trigger with the safety engaged then disengage the saftey the gun will fire without pulling the trigger again.
My question is 2 fold.
1. Can it be repaired?
2. Would it be better to simply replace the trigger?
If replacing the trigger is the better option who makes a trigger for the mod 340?
Thanks in advance.

Trigger #52 or Sear #48 springs might be weak.

Or, someone might have stoned the cocking piece #7, and/or sear #49 in a miss-guided effort to improve the trigger pull.

The first thing I would do is take the action out of the stock and give the trigger housing a real good cleaning with Gun Scrubber or WD-40, toothpicks, and anything else you can use to get all the old dirt & dried oil out of it.

Then lube it with Rem-Oil and see if it helps.
