I have been offered a Ruger American Ranch rifle, 16" threaded barrel in 223 at an advantageous price. I do not shoot scopes. Has anyone out there put either iron sights or fire sights on this rifle. I have a Ruger American in 22 mag front fire sight that works well for me out to 100yds which is just about the limit of my vision for coyote size targets. Once again I do not use scopes but seem to do well with military or fire sights. Any advice appreciated,

If you google for images of this model does it have the dovetails to mount sights? A lot of guns are scope only these days and do not have anywhere to mount the sights. So conversion to plain sights requires a visit to the gunsmith for some machining. And if needed that will certainly increase your final cost.

Have a smith put some on for you. It's cheap enough - between $50-100 plus cost of sights usually.

I've done several iron sight installs, but it's a lot less common than it used to be to get that request.

Buy a decent quality scope for less than equal quality irons would cost to buy and have installed. Learn how to use it. You won't go back. Don't make the mistake of buying too much scope, a 1-4X20 is adequate and a 2-7X32 is as big as you can use.

Not the advice you were looking for, but the best advice you'll get.

Sights can be bought and installed for $100. There is no "decent quality scope" available for $100 or less.
