I would like to put together an upper and would like some help on sourcing parts and the options available for what I want to do. This would be my first AR upper but I have experience with working on other guns and have pretty good mechanical ability. I have read the guidebooks found elsewhere on the net.
I guess I would call it a modified dissipator:
Pencil thin 16" barrel with a mid length system. (is there such a thing? I haven't had much luck looking)
Low profile gas block to fit under handguards.
Long free float hand guard with vents and tapped holes to install a rail. I only want minimal rails, not sticking out all over.
Pop up sights for front and rear. This is part of my problem. I don't really understand the necessary specs to make sure a rear matches a rail mounted front.
I would like to install a rail along the top that indexes with the reciever mount to accomodate a leupold scout scope. Along with a short section on the bottom for a sling and bipod.
Suggestions or sources?
