My dad announced to me that he had decided to get a GLock 9mm about 2 weeks ago. Keep in mind the only guns he owne were a Ruger Single Six and a Mossberg 500. I told him cool, I then invited him to the range to rent one and test it out. He wasn't aware that Glocks have no external safeties so he dicided against it before he even rented it. I let him shoot my Ruger P95 DC. He was instantly hooked. He decided to get the P89 (he likes metal guns I guess) with custom grips. We drove to see my uncle who is an FFL and picked up my dad's new pistol. We went out Plincking and he ended up running 500 rounds through it on the first day. No cleaning, in this time and not one malfunction. He had a blast and so did I. I took him home and showed him how to field strip it and clean it. He called me ten minutes ago asking about where to join a gun club and how tough the CCW class is. Glad to say my dad and I seem to have a new hobby to share besides Beer and Football.

I think that is a wonderful story. My son is stationed in Europe now with the Big Red One. When he comes in on leave, we generally head for the range. Those are memories that I will always carry.

As a younger man while in college, I once worked part time for an indoor shooting range. I will always remember the father and son duo that arrived every Friday nignt. It was like clock work. They enjoyed themselves, and each other's company. It made such an impression on me that out of all of the people that came through that range, I believe that I will always remember them the most.

Shooting should always be a family activity. It is such an enjoyable pragmatic sport.

The Beer and football are our Sunday afternoon hangout during football season. I never said anything about drinking and shooting, that's stupid, dangerous and iligal so please give me a little more credit than that.

Do You smoke, too?

.45Ruger,

If you also smoke with your dad, you could open a branch office for the ATF (sans the explosives).
