Henry .22 rimfire

I bought one for my dad several years ago. The action is smooth and it's pretty accurate. It doesn't have a scope so idk what it is truly capable of.

Only thing is that the sights kinda suck... typical leaf sight with a hooded front sight, but that's to be expected for something retro like this.

I put an inexpensive Williams peep sight (WGRS-54) on my H001, and it improved the sight picture immensely. The WGRS fit nicely with just a bit of filing, and it's mounted way back on the receiver for a nice long sight radius. The only hitch is, the sight is a bit taller than the stock one, so you need a taller front sight to match. I used a round file and made a shallow groove in the top of the stock front sight blade, then epoxied a short piece of 3/32" brass rod into the groove. Bingo, brass bead front, and with the rear sight at the midpoint of its elevation adjustment, it shoots dead on. One of the best $30 upgrades I've ever made to a gun. It's not a fancy, super-adjustable tang sight, but then again, it's not a Sharps rifle, either.

As for the Henry itself, if there's a way to have more fun for under $300, I haven't found it. Great little rifle.

I had several Goldenboy's and finally got the Engraved, but it was so pretty I couldn't bring myself to shoot it ... I was going to have my initials engraved in the spot for it and figured it would be a "hand-me down" but my grandson wanted my Marlin 39A which is my preferred shooter ... then I ran into a guy at work that had been looking for a engraved and I sold it to him.

Then just a week or two later I was at a show and saw the "Evil Roy" and picked it up ... nice weight, 16.5" octagonal barrel, large loop and a silver receiver and I was in love ... still hasn't bumped out the 39 but its running a close second.

I really like the looks of the "Evil Roy" gun, but I just got the "regular" large looped blued gun instead. I really wish the centerfire Henry's had a loading gate, I don't like the tube load much at all. It's my only complaint about it.

The rimfire Henry leverguns use the same material in the receiver & the outer cover, a Zamak 5 alloy.

The Goldenboys' cover is nickeled, then the "gold" or "brass" finish is applied.
In the case of the "silver" models, the process is essentially the same, without the gold finish over the bright nickel.

Thanks Denis ... I wasn't sure what the material was or how the look was achieved, only that the called the brass colored one "brasslite".

I like the shorter barrel of the Evil Roy, it makes it not only lighter but easier to handle ... and it fits into a leather case I already have!

I gave an ER to a nephew as his first rifle.
He's quite fond of it.

Henry Rifle Caveat

All Henry Rifles are sold with quite a stern warning.

"Caution use or purchase of this product may/can/will lead to an acute addiction to purchase more-and more."

If you are foolish enough to think you will only purchase one take two aspirin and call LGS for immediate relief!!:)

After owning a Goldenboy for a couple years, I decided I needed the Henry pump action model also. It should be arriving on the brown truck today!

Bought a Golden Boy 22lr weeks 3 ago as a companion to my Ruger Single Six. The action is as smooth as butter.

I have Frontier model with the octagon barrel. The action is very slick and the rifle is accurate.

150 pounds of .22LR dropped off here last week.
It'll take most of the summer, but there's a 20,000-round endurance run on a Golden Boy coming up.
Should be interesting. :D

I have a H001T (Frontier model with the octagon barrel (pictured).

On an semi-related note, I also just inherited my dad's 1957 *unfired* Winchester Model 94. It looks like it just came out of the box.
