Can anyone speak from experience on effectiveness overall, and effective range? I'm looking at getting one of these rifles in either .357 Mag or .327 Mag.

Are you gonna reload? If factory ammo is what you're gonna shoot then I'd pick the 357 because of ammo choices. For varmint and coyote I'd guess 100 yards and closer would be ideal. If you know your trajectory then I see no issue.

Where I hunt I can encounter a whitetail, Axis, hog, coyote, or bobcat no matter what I’m specifically targeting. And on a friends place I can even encounter nilgai. Consequently I’ve shot coyotes with cartridges ranging from .22 WMR to 30-06, including a few with a 30-30. I see no problem with using a .357 Mag.
